5.00pm BST

So what does the relegation zone look like after those absolute goal fests? Tottenham remain bottom with their match against Manchester United coming up in half an hour. Fulham’s loss means they remain firmly in the danger zone with Coventry just above them. But Bournemouth are by no means feeling safe, if Fulham had seen out their result Bournemouth would have been in the red. A lot of tension down at the bottom with only three points separating 20th and 12th.

4.59pm BST

Full time: Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford A great match to watch if you are a neutral, brilliant chances with only four sticking to see the sides share the points.

4.58pm BST

A huge result for Brighton especially with that red card. They are just two points off of the top of the table, could they be an unlikely title winner this season?

4.57pm BST

Full time: Sunderland 0-2 Brighton Despite a red card for Stuijk Brighton have come away with the points and remain third in the table. Two second half goals for the Seagulls.

4.56pm BST

Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford, 90 + 4 min: Well both are pushing for a winner, what an amazing game this is at Villa Park. Two minutes of injury time to go.

4.55pm BST

Full time: Ipswich Town 2-1 Fulham Fulham completely lost control of the game and poor management sees their first three points up in smoke. A great comeback for Ipswich, who have had a brilliant start to the season.

4.55pm BST

Full time: Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth A huge result for Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea. A brilliant performance by Jordan Henderson but an honourable mention must go to Cole Palmer who was the spark at the start of the game to make this all happen.

4.53pm BST

A player down but no problem. A beautiful strike sees Brighton’s squad clamber on Hadjam who scored.

Updated at 5.08pm BST

4.52pm BST

GOAL: Sunderland 0-2 Brighton (Hadjam 90 + 3) Wow.

4.51pm BST

O’Shea heads home to send the supporters into wild celebrations but that is dire from Fulham. Minutes away from their first win and now they are looking at a loss.

Updated at 5.00pm BST

4.50pm BST

GOAL: Ipswich Town 2-1 Fulham (O'Shea 90 +2) Fulham have let this go completely.

4.48pm BST

Well, Fulham were minutes from their first win but Ipswich have struck. The newly promoted side are having quite the season.

4.47pm BST

GOAL: Ipswich Town 1-1 Fulham (Ouattara 89) That’s a hit for Fulham’s season.

Updated at 4.56pm BST

4.43pm BST

Sunderland 0-1 Brighton, 84 min: Somehow Brighton are holding on at the Stadium of Light. As things stand the Seagulls are just two points off of Manchester City and Arsenal at the top of the table.

4.42pm BST

This game doesn’t seem to want a winner, Brentford hit right back. It’s tricky for Suzuki as there is a deflection but the goal is awarded to Ajer.

Updated at 4.52pm BST

4.41pm BST

GOAL: Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford (Ajer 79) WOW.

4.41pm BST

Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth, 81 min: Bournemouth are pushing and Evanilson pops the ball into the area but Martinez plucks it from the air to dispel any danger.

4.39pm BST

Villa have been pushing and it is wonderman McGinn. The stands are in full voice, the club look like they have a comeback win on their hands.

Updated at 5.24pm BST

4.39pm BST

GOAL: Aston Villa 2-1 Brentford (McGinn 77) Is that the winner?

4.38pm BST

Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth, 78 min: Bournemouth have a corner as they look to claw back some goal difference. With the score as it is the club sit in 18th. It comes in but it’s dealt with quite easily.

4.36pm BST

Ipswich Town 0-1 Fulham, 78 min: Maeda went down in the box and it took a VAR check to make sure it wasn’t a penalty and that is the decision they came to.

4.34pm BST

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford, 72 min: Well the score looks like the game may have been slightly boring but is has been anything but. Some great chances for both sides but the clinical edge is just missing so far.

4.33pm BST

Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth, 74 min: Ten minutes ago we were questioning whether Bournemouth could be the winning side or at least claw back a draw and now Chelsea have taken it away from them. A great response to the momentum swing at Stamford Bridge.

4.32pm BST

Sunderland 0-1 Brighton, 72 min: Xhaka has hit the woddwork twice and the hosts push for an equaliser. No joy as of yet but how long can Brighton hold on?

4.31pm BST

Jordan Henderson is loving life in a blue shirt, an amazing performance by the England international today. His second goal of the afternoon.

4.30pm BST

GOAL: Chelsea 5-1 Bournemouth (Henderson 70) Palmer makes a good run but Silva fouls him and Chelsea have a free kick. Henderson takes it and it is an absolute beauty.

Updated at 4.48pm BST

4.28pm BST

Chelsea 4-1 Bournemouth, 68 min: Bournemouth will be hugely frustrated, they had all of the momentum but had nothing to show for it and with a blink of an eye the Blues make it a three goal cushion again.

4.26pm BST

Chelsea have been clinical when they have had the ball and they are again with Pedro in a great position. He goes off on a run and smashes it home. Bournemouth in the rear view now.

Updated at 4.39pm BST

4.26pm BST

GOAL: Chelsea 4-1 Bournemouth (Pedro, 67) That’s the game surely.

4.25pm BST

Ipswich Town 0-1 Fulham, 67 min: Fulham did have another chance shortly after their goal but couldn’t make it stick, the hosts struggling at the moment.

4.24pm BST

Sunderland 0-1 Brighton, 65 min: It was Wilson Isidor who was fouled which caused the red card for Brighton. Despite being a player up, Sunderland are yet to make it count.

4.22pm BST

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford, 60 min: Suzuki makes a great save to keep the game as a draw for now but Brentford have some momentum.

4.20pm BST

Chelsea 3-1 Bournemouth, 62 min: Gannon-Doak has been a bright spark and he crosses an effort to Evanilson but he can’t quite get to it. This would be quite the comeback if they can pull it off.

4.18pm BST

Chelsea 3-1 Bournemouth, 60 min: The visitors are in the ascendency here despite being two goals down, the momentum is firmly theirs.

4.17pm BST

RED CARD: Sunderland 0-1 Brighton (Struijk 55) Well, well, well. He took down a Sunderland player as the last person between him and the goal. The referee did not see it as even a free kick but VAR has ruled it a red card. Drama.

Updated at 4.29pm BST

4.16pm BST

Chelsea 3-1 Bournemouth, 56 min: Caicedo is clutching his head as a high boot comes in but it seems like it didn’t actually touch him. Of course VAR will look at it but a card seems unlikely. And there isn’t one.

4.15pm BST

Gary Naylor has got in touch about Chelsea’s defence:

I know it’s an oversimplification in these data-driven days, but I still think a manager’s job is largely to coach the defence and inspire the attack. If Xabi Alonso can work out how to make Chelsea’s defence tighter, they might yet push Arsenal all the way.

4.14pm BST

Fulham were in the relegation zone before this match but if it stays as it is they will go to 14th, a huge moment for the London club.

4.13pm BST

GOAL: Ipswich Town 0-1 Fulham (Sessegnon 55) That is an important goal for Fulham.

Updated at 4.44pm BST

4.13pm BST

GOAL: Sunderland 0-1 Brighton (De Cuyper 53) An easy tap in for the visitors.

Updated at 4.32pm BST

4.12pm BST

Tony Hughes on Bournemouth’s early sub:

BG-D is quick and twisty in a Pat Nevin sort of way. However, unlike Nevin, Gannon-Doak has no end product. Occasional cameos for Bournemouth aren’t helping him either. He needs regular minutes on the field, plus specific coaching on improving his decision making.

I’d love him to be a success in the Premier League and for Scotland, but he hasn’t kicked on since we first saw him as a 17 year old. His next stop will be in the Championship.

4.11pm BST

It was a great goal for Bournemouth, it’s very scrambly in the box and Evanilson is there to hit it home. Another game without a clean sheet for Chelsea and Martinez.

4.11pm BST

GOAL: Chelsea 3-1 Bournemouth (Evanlison 51) Now they may be back in this.

4.10pm BST

Ipswich Town 0-0 Fulham, 52 min: Bassey has been given a yellow card for fouling Emersonn as that clash heats up.

Updated at 4.10pm BST

4.09pm BST

Chelsea 3-0 Bournemouth, 50 min: The most brutal start to the second half for Bournemouth, can they get anything back from this? It looks unlikely but it is their own fault. Completely unprepared at the start of both halves.

4.08pm BST

Dean has got in touch and has had quite the lunch:

Just finished off last night’s leak, potatoes, broccoli and lentil spicy soup with homemade cheesy soda bread. Yum yum. Also...can’t imagine too many had Henderson as their fantasy captain.

This sounds so good, I might have to research the recipe. I also do doubt that as well but did anyone have him in their FPL? Get in touch.

4.07pm BST

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford, 45 min: Villa Park has football underway again and the hosts arguably should be ahead with the chances they have had. They will push here to find a winner.

4.06pm BST

The start of halves are just where Chelsea want to score today. It’s a beautiful goal with Joao Pedro making a powerful run and scores in the top right corner.

4.05pm BST

GOAL: Chelsea 3-0 Bournemouth (Pedro 45) WOW.

Updated at 4.06pm BST

4.04pm BST

Sunderland 0-0 Brighton: Another game back in action with supporters begging for a goal.

4.04pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 45 min: Back underway at Stamford Bridge as the hosts look to see out this game. Brentford have made a change with Gannon-Doak on for Brooks, a line-up fans wanted to see pre-kick-off.

4.03pm BST

Ipswich Town 0-0 Fulham, 45 min: The game is in its second half now and the question for all fans involved is whether either side can find a winner.

3.52pm BST

Usually on these blogs I have a bit of snack chat and Joe Pearson has beaten my prompt, emailing:

Just a cream cheese croissant and a cup of coffee today. I’ll try to do better.

I would say that is quite solid, anyone else got some snacks on the go for the football action? Email me.

3.51pm BST

Half-time: Aston Villa 1-1 Brenford This clash had the most injury time but neither side could find a goal. Brentford scored first for the eighth time this season but Villa were quick to respond through Jackson. Both sides have had chances to take the lead but none have come to fruition yet.

3.48pm BST

Half-time: Sunderland 0-0 Brighton The hosts have only had one shot on target with Brighton also not hitting the back of the net yet. This one could be a goal fest in the second half.

3.48pm BST

Half-time: Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth Chelsea scored two goals in the opening three minutes with Jordan Henderson and Morgan Rogers on the scoresheet. But Bournemouth have responded well with just a goal missing for them right now.

3.47pm BST

Half-time: Ipswich Town 0-0 Fulham No-one has found a way through yet with both having some good chances so far.

3.46pm BST

AnhTuan Nguyen Huynh has emailed:

Ipswich’s constant crossing has become far too predictable, so they need Enciso to orchestrate a more varied attack in the second half by bringing on Palacio, and if they do, they’ll genuinely fancy pinching all three points.

3.45pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 45 min: Colwill clears the ball as Bournemouth look to hit back before half time but Rayan has some promising play but Brooks plays it loose and Chelsea clear.

3.42pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 42 min: This game has been lively and it may be one of Henderson’s best games in recent times.

3.40pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 40 min: The visitors are growing and growing into this and the Blues just need to calm themselves with the buffer of two goals.

3.37pm BST

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford, 37 min: Buendia has a chance saved up one end before Suzuki saves another up the opposite end. This game is coming to life but it remains a draw so far.

3.36pm BST

So with less than ten minutes to go until half-time, here are how the matches stand:

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

Ipswich Town 0-0 Fulham

Sunderland 0-0 Brighton

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth

3.35pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 35 min: Bournemouth are getting more possession but are yet to get a meaningful shot on goal. They launch their latest attack, which comes to nothing, but Chelsea fans aren’t happy as they believed Tavernier was offside but it wasn’t called.

3.33pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 33 min: Henderson has been a real central character to this game so far, his partnership with Caicedo is working quite well.

3.31pm BST

Sunderland 0-0 Brighton, 31 min: Sunderland have had the best chance of the game so far with Thomas Meunier hitting hte ball goalward but there is a fantastic block to keep it 0-0.

3.30pm BST

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford, 30 min: Jackson remains a bright spark for Villa as the hosts search to go ahead for the first time in this match.

3.29pm BST

Something here from the earlier kick-off:

Former England number one David Seaman raised eyebrows by wearing a ‘half-and-half’ scarf for Arsenal’s Premier League match against Leeds at the Emirates Stadium.

Seaman came through the boyhood club Leeds’ academy but never played for the Whites before making his name in north London, winning nine trophies across a glittering 13-year career for Arsenal.

However, the 63-year-old, who addressed the Emirates prior to Saturday’s fixture, showed his support for both sides by wearing the red and yellow knitwear.

Seaman, who works as an ambassador for Arsenal, was spotted in the crowd by broadcaster TNT Sports in the opening half of the contest.

3.27pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 27 min: Bournemouth have settled quite well after conceding those early two goals but Chelsea are still in full control. The visitors need to make an impact on the scoreboard to claw something back in this.

3.25pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 25 min: The Blues are still pushing in attack here, a real statement this performance so far.

3.24pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 23 min: Henderson almost gets a second with his positioning great but Petrovic makes a great save.

3.23pm BST

Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford, 23 min: No movement on the scoreboard since those two quick fire goals, the one for Villa was Jackson’s first home goal.

3.22pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 22 min: Bournemouth have a corner and it’s delivered well, Martinez catches it and the danger is over. There was as suggestion that Christie was fouled in the box but no penalty has been given.

3.20pm BST

Sunderland 0-0 Brighton, 19 min: Nothing of note in this clash yet. The Seagulls will be favourites to take this one with their form in the league this season so far.

3.18pm BST

Ipswich Town 0-0 Fulham, 18 min: Enciso has had a chance saved with the hosts the better in their match so far.

3.17pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 17 min: Bournemouth are trying to make an impact in this game with quite the comeback already on their hands but they are yet to really make their presence known.

3.15pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 15 min: Palmer is playing exceptionally well and it may lead many to question the injury he reported as to why he withdrew from the recent England camp.

3.14pm BST

Ipswich Town 0-0 Fulham, 13 min: No clear updates from this clash as of yet, the stalemate remains.

3.13pm BST

GOAL: Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford (Jackson, 12) They say you are your most vulnerable after scoring and Brentford prove that old adage correct.

Updated at 3.28pm BST

3.12pm BST

It was a right-foot finish for the Ukrainian star which we all should have predicted as Brentford has scored first in every league game they have played this season so far.

3.11pm BST

GOAL: Aston Villa 0-1 Brentford (Yarmolyuk, 10) Brentford break the deadlock in Birmingham.

Updated at 3.25pm BST

3.10pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth, 10 min: Just to correct mistake, Rogers has now been credited with the goal. It flipped back and forth between crediting the England international and an own goal but the Blues man gets it.

3.09pm BST

Sunderland 0-0 Brighton, 9 min: Roefs has made a great save in Sunderland’s battle against Brighton with the visitors looking the brighter so far this afternoon.

3.08pm BST

In the upper tier of the Stretford End, on the far right, in front of the bottom row of seats, can be seen the banner, now restored, post-Manchester City being found guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules, that denotes “how long” since the team in blue from across town have won any silverware.

It says: “51 years” - a reference to the 1975-76 season when the League Cup was theirs. Doubly cheeky, of course, as this suggests any of the trophies accrued post- the time frame of the charges (2009-18) should not be acknowledged; and, of course, as we stand all those claimed from ‘09-’18 remain City’s. Interesting to note that United have allowed this banner to be put back in place (it was removed after the 2010-11 FA Cup triumph).

Updated at 3.11pm BST

3.07pm BST

All three other 3pm BST games stand at 0-0. Barely a breath between those two.

3.06pm BST

For that second Chelsea goal, Petrovic had saved a chance from Neto but Chelsea recirculated the ball. Palmer was key again in the build-up and Rogers passed it on before Silva got a head to it. Wow.

Updated at 3.15pm BST

3.06pm BST

GOAL STANDS: Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth Rogers was not offside but I believe it will go down as an own goal by Silva, he looks like he got a head to it. Crazy opening few mintues.

3.05pm BST

GOAL CHECK: Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth Was Rogers offside?

3.04pm BST

Chelsea 2-0 Bournemouth (Rogers, 3) My word, Bournemouth are being smashed.

3.03pm BST

That is Jordan Henderson’s first goal for Chelsea but the goal was expertly set up by Cole Palmer. He made a great run into the box before laying it back to his England teammate who slotted it home. Great start for the Blues.

Updated at 3.16pm BST

3.02pm BST

Chelsea 1-0 Bournemouth (Henderson 1) That didn’t take long.

3.00pm BST

Rayo v Athletic suspended Rayo Vallecano supporters stopped their team’s La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao by throwing paper airplanes and other objects onto the field, forcing the game to be suspended.

The fans, who are unhappy with the management of club owner and president Raúl Martín Presa, forced Saturday’s match to stop in the 13th minute. The stadium announcer said the game would be suspended in the 20th if the protests continued, which they did.

The players and officials left the field and the fans chanted against Presa. It’s Rayo’s first league game of the season in its home ground since city authorities closed the stadium over safety concerns.
